Prof. Daniel P. PALOMAR and Prof. Zhiyong FAN have received Research Excellence Award and Young Investigator Award respectively

The School of Engineering Research Excellence Awards scheme has been established since 2011 to recognize the achievements and contributions of the outstanding faculty members.  The awards include Distinguished Research Excellence Award, Research Excellence Award and Young Investigator Research Award.  This year, two of the awards went to Prof. Daniel P. PALOMAR and Prof. Zhiyong FAN from Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering (ECE).

Prof. Daniel P. PALOMAR has received the Research Excellence Award which recognizes the efforts of an outstanding faculty member with a proven record of research excellence.  Prof Palomar’s research on optimization has had a profound impact on the engineering research community.  He has particularly excelled at combining mathematical tools with practical engineering applications.

Prof. Zhiyong FAN has received the Young Investigator Award which recognizes the achievements of a promising and rising faculty member.  Prof. Fan has been very active in solar energy and nanotechnology research.  He has invented a number of world-leading technologies with great impact on his research field.   His researches have significant long-term impact on the sustainable development of Hong Kong and the rest of the world.
