Green IoT and Data Analytics for Smart Cities
ECE Conference Room 2516, 2/F (via Lift 25/26), Academic Building, HKUST

Cities around the world are currently under quick transition towards low carbon environment, high quality of living, and resource efficient economy. Internet of Things (IoT) has become a promising technology for addressing societal challenges, such as air quality, transportation, and energy efficiency. IoT for smart cities provides the accessibility of open data for city planning. In this talk, we will present our research project, called GreenIoT, for open data and sustainable development in Uppsala, Sweden. In this project, we developed an integrated IoT solution and testbed for air pollution monitoring in the city. We will present the system architecture, testbed development, and our research work on data analysis using Gaussian Process for urban environmental modeling. Finally, we will highlight our on-going research activities and future directions on IoT and data analytics for smart cities.
